Although I do read Joel's books and listen to his podcasts, this is another example of his living in the past. What was true in his day is not necessarily true or appropriate today. Unfortunately, the cargo cult that surrounds him feeds on this stuff like manna from heaven. I see that you refrained from comparing and contrasting MS Program Management with Adobe's version. However, I think you alluded to it when you referenced the transition from engineering-driven to program management-driven leadership under Ballmer. Many similarities IMHO... Great post, Kevin!
